Università di Trento

CISP boasts a consolidated relationship with the University of Trento, through the long collaboration with Prof. Stefano Rossi.

During 2022, the Association commissioned a study on the durability of steel panels coated with Porcelain Enamel for outdoor applications. The study involved the Industrial Coatings and Anticorrosion Laboratory of the Department of Industrial Engineering and carried out the analysis of three types of samples. The Industrial Coatings and Anti-corrosion Laboratory has been involved for over 30 years in the study of the corrosion behavior of materials and their protection through organic, inorganic and metallic coatings, in addition to innovative coatings applied with various techniques, such as sol-gel. The results of the study on the behavior of porcelain enamel in the architectural and building sectors were then presented during CISP annual conference.

CISP is also finalizing an agreement with the University of Trento to entrust its laboratories with checking compliance with the Regulation for the use of the certification mark registered by the Association to guarantee the nature of the material.

Stefano Rossi - Materials engineer (University of Trento) and PhD in Materials Science and Technology (University of Florence). Within the Department of Industrial Engineering of the University of Trento he's in charge with materials engineering and, in particular, with coatings and surface treatments for corrosion protection and the relationship between materials and design. Head of the Industrial Coatings and Anticorrosion laboratory. Fascinated by the perceptive aspects of materials, he introduced product design to an engineering course for the first time, trying to encourage lateral thinking. He designed and edited the torch and brazier of the XXVI Winter Universiade.

Author of over 180 articles in scientific journals (Scopus database) with over 3700 citations. For years he has been involved in research in the field of porcelain enamels, with 18 articles and 1 book (Design does not lose its enamel - The potential of enamelled materials, Fausto Lupetti Editore, 2011). He has participated in over 140 national and international conferences, many by invitation.
